Carmen's room is coming along....

   

Here we are on Saturday morning working on Carmen's room. Thank you to the volunteers who donated their time to help us with this project. You are such a blessing. Carmen is so excited, we showed her pics and asked her if she couldn't wait to move home and she gave me a big yes sign! Won't be long Car!

     

Footings are done...

Last week the cement was poured for the footings....the walls are going up next and the cement should be poured for that on Weds. 9/11 Thank god for the nice weather!

Chapman vs. UPS

Last weekend mom and dad and the entire fam including Perrin went down to Tacoma to cheer Chapman on at their first game against rival UPS. Unfortunately they lost, but Carmen had fun seeing her bestfriends and  coaches Courtney and Bart and the rest of the team. This team was not the same players as when Carmen played but they all heard about Carmen. Many came up to her and told her that they were so excited to meet this great player they have heard about at Chapman. We had a great time. Carmen's coach Craig Bennet is now the Athletic Director and UPS so she was able to hang out with him also. Here is a pic with Car and the team! Go Chapman! Wishing you a great season!

Birthday Blessings!

Carmen turns 26 years old! We celebrated with a backyard BBQ with family and close friends. Lindsay Lewis and Francis came up from Cali to spend the weekend with her. We spent the afternoon playing uno and telling stories from back in the day with Car. Jessica Schell kept Car laughing all afternoon, you that Schell sense of humor is contagious.

  For 4th of July we took Car on a mini vacation to a local spa...she loved swimming!

Groundbreaking...

It's official, we have started the digging for Carmen's remodel! Saturday my dad and crew were out digging the ground for what is to be Carmen's living quarters. 13 truck loads of dirt were hauled away!

Many of you have expressed your generosity this past year by offering to help with this project either through prayer,by giving time or your expertise with construction.

Still Waiting...

We are still waiting for a bed to open up for Car at UW. We found out that Car's insurance will only cover 30 days of rehab instead of 60, so if we want her to have more than 30 days we will need to pay. On a recent visit at Life Care with Car, I happened to walk in on her in the middle of rehab. She was hooked up to electrodes ( I am not sure exact name) on her left leg to help stimulate her muscles, kind of like electric stimulation for 15 minutes, than she stood up for 15 mins. while standing she had to bring a stack of cones from one end of the table to the other and she did it. She got very tired towards the end but she was able to do. She continues with Phsical Therapy at Life Care to help build strength for her rehab at UW. We have started the process of adding on to the Perez Home-we have moved the brick patio from the back of the house to the side and have cleared the area for them to start digging. We brought Car home on Sunday and she got a huge smile when she saw the start of her new bedroom-I think she is ready to be home!

Update on the University of Washington...

So now it's the waiting game. All of Carmen's paperwork is cleared, were just waiting for a bed to open up. My mom spoke to the nurses today and they said that it doesn't look like a bed opening up this week or next week so possibly the 3rd week in May. We'll see. Keep praying for a bed to open up for her, otherwise she is doing great. She is very excited to go, she is still doing very well in her physical therapy at the Life Care and will continue to receive it until she leaves to UW. Dad is working very hard on getting the plans and paperwork ready for the addtion to the Perez home for Carmen. We are adding on a bedroom and bathroom for her, the entire area needs to be wheelchair accesible. If you can help in any way give him a call. Keep us in your prayers...

Nintendo Wii!

As part of Carmen's physical therapy she gets to play nintendo Wii.
The games she plays are bowling and golf. This last week she played 8 holes of golf against her physical therapist Paul and she beat him. You know Carmen and her competitive personality! Go CAR!!

Prayer Requests: Carmen's paperwork gets finalized at the University of Washington. For the addition of her bedroom and bathroom to the Perez home, for finances, supplies, and contractors.
