I didn't know how to reach you now that I am in Tennessee, but Keith and I have always felt that Carmen WILL walk and talk again, and your wonderful angel has confirmed it. In fact, we are convinced that there are amazing things in store for her.
We may not be "angels" (helpers) in person, but we are always with you in love and prayer. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Roz and Keith

Andrea Postma

Hey all! What a wonderful support system Carmen has! I am Car's speech therapist at the University of Washington Medical Center and I am SO happy to be working with her - she is quite a girl. I consider myself very lucky because I get to spend 1 to 2 hours a day with her! I am writing because I am in need of your help. I am looking for pictures of Carmen before and after her accicent. We are busy putting together a communication book in which we have lots of info about family, friends, Carmen's travels and interests. I have used quite a few pictures from this blog already, but I'm always looking for more (especially of those before her accident). Please feel free to attach and send pics to my email adddress -apostma@u.washington.edu - it will be helpful if you put 'Pictures of Carmen' in the Subject line. OR, you could just post them to this blog and I'll try to check every couple days. I'm looking for pictures that tell stories. Not just portrait shots. We need lots to talk about, so please send comments/captions expaining what is going on in the picture. Carmen is working very hard on reading and writing right now, so I will be using your pictures and stories as conversational material. For Carmen, it doesn't get any better than spending time every day talking about the people and places she loves. Thanks all, I will do my best to post little updates every once in a while. Happy in Seattle

  • Love my sis
These photos are from Carmen's first two days at the University of Washington. She's enduring intense rehab for the next 4-6 weeks. Although, she's expected to work hard she's happy to be there.

Doctor Maya

  • As we visited Carmen last night, her aides were getting her ready for bed and Maya noticed they had put on gloves. "I need gloves, I need gloves" she said until she got her gloves. As she was putting her gloves on I asked her if she was going to be a doctor when she grew up. She said, "I'm going to be a doctor so I can fix Carmen." Carmen had the biggest smile on her face.

Snow Bunny

  • Carmen loving the snow!
Here our some pics (from Ma's phone) of our recent snow. Although all of it has now melted, it was fun while it lasted. Sorry the pics are so small --- working to fix that.
